Underwriting Supervisor

As the Underwriting Supervisor, you will provide support to a team of underwriters ranging from entry to senior level. Assisting the team with loan applications to evaluate and train underwriting- ensuring that the team comprehends expectations and timelines. Support risk management in efforts to ensure minimal errors at all times. Also, responsible for pre-qualifying the loan utilizing the lender guidelines for each product group. Ensures the transition of a loan application comfortably through the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Give and instruct guidelines, receive and review loan applications, and ensure accuracy
  • Support a staff of 5+ underwriters
  • Assist in state and new product rollout
  • Assisting the team through applications including personally underwriting loans as needed
  • Acquisition, retention and development of underwriting talent
  • Ensure files meet regulatory requirements and internal documentation standards
  • Participate in the implementation of operational and policy service SOP’s workflow processes and standards
  • Interact with quality control, compliance, production, processing, and Disclosure Compliance for problem resolution
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications/Experience/Training/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area
  • 3-5 years experience as a professional liability underwriter
  • 5 years of proven underwriting team leadership
